To ensure
the continued financial stability and operation of the
Canadian Kennel Club the board has created a business
plan for 2011 encompassing membership restructuring, non
member tracking fees, virtual certificates, revenue
generation, expenditure reduction, membership services,
Apex and communication.
Many of
these changes are in the planning stages and will be
fleshed out as the year progresses. Others will have an
immediate impact on the membership and the dog fancy.
These are changes that are required for the fiscal
health of the organization.
MEMBERSHIP RESTRUCTURING:

NON
MEMBER TRACKING FEES:
-
Effective January 1, 2011 a tracking fee for a
Canadian non member will be charged for all awards
and titles tracked. Dogs co owned with a CKC member
will be exempt from the tracking fee.

The
tracking fee will be charged per dog/per title
within 30 days of the first award
-
In order
to protect the awards/titles earned, the non member
will have a choice either to become a CKC member or
to pay the $55 tracking fee. Failure to comply
within 30 days of notification will cause all awards
and titles to be cancelled.

The
premium list must carry a note stating these fees
apply only to dogs wholly owned by non CKC members
and are not applicable to CKC members.
Americans are exempt from the tracking fee since they
already pay $55 for an ERN number.
VIRTUAL CERTIFICATES:
Issuance of
certificates both registration and shows and trials will
be done via PDF emails.
A fee of $10
will be charged for printing and mailing of a
certificate.
Estimated
savings Registration $70 K
Shows and
Trials $17K
REVENUE GENERATION:
Modeling for Shows and Events, for a trial period of one
year. Options are to be approved by a 5 member committee
of the board. It’s open to all existing clubs with more
than a 10 year continuing accreditation. It cannot
contravene the currant by-laws. Must focus on increased
participation at events.

implemented.
OTHER REVENUE GENERATING OPTIONS BEING INVESTIGATED:

Different concept of championship points.
Regional/Zone and Canadian Championships.
Increasing point system and majors.

Development of a new company to support the
entrance of non-purebred dogs into performance
events.

Examine the success of other kennel clubs
throughout the world with an eye to adapting
some of their concepts.

Strike a committee to explore the concept of a %
registry as suggested by Ag. Canada

responsibilities for infractions to the point of origin.
